INSPIRATION and CREATIVE IDEAS
Good songwriting fascinates me. There are so many variables and emotions to explore. What is the drive? Where do the great ideas come from?
We can experience and realize—naturally and easily:
• Anticipation in the adventure of exploring the imagination
• Balance of intuition, knowledge, and skill
• Sharing
• Gratitude for the opportunity to do what we love
I subscribe to other songwriting coaches because we can never stop learning. Here’s something Keppie Coutts generously shared: In Oliver Burkeman’s "Meditations for Mortals", he quotes writer Doctorow, who says, “Writing a novel is like driving at night. You can never see further than the headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.” We may have a map, yet there are still exciting unknowns ahead.
Being a songwriter is just that: write songs. As we read all the books and watch all the videos, it gets down to doing it. I know so well—been there and have several T-shirts.
I’m here to help.
Once you bring ideas, or even better, a song title, we can map how the song might go, like an architect sketches ideas. If you have no concrete ideas but bring the enthusiasm, we can start there too. We can play a word game to generate unlimited energy and fun. Before long, you’ll realize the magic of expanding beyond the headlights, experiencing the flow that takes us all the way.
